What’s new in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0

  • Shared use of Microsoft Office business documents
  • Export to Microsoft Office XML open format ensures an easy import from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel; the style sheet guarantees the plausibility of data selection. These data can be sent even to those users who don’t have Microsoft Dynamics NAV at their workplaces. Any form can be transferred either to Microsoft Word or to Microsoft Excel; either in its standard view or in a specified format (e.g. with the company logo).
  • Microsoft Outlook integration is no longer limited by Service module. Due to the improved integration with Microsoft Outlook it is now possible to set up an integration of any Microsoft Dynamics NAV content with any Microsoft Outlook objects, including the user-defined objects. The synchronization is performed with regard to the user’s preferences. The users can apply filters and get only necessary data. Those who work with Microsoft Outlook offline can quickly update the system by defining the changes they want to synchronize. In case it is necessary to create a new customer or just to update the contact data the system will surely display only the up-to-date information. To perform these tasks the users won’t even need to have Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installed on their computers.
  • By means of Record Links it is now possible to link any URL address with any NAV content. The corresponding pictogram is added to the menu and available in all NAV’s entities, e.g., in a Card or in a List. The links can be setup with any unstructured data, e.g., with information from emails, electronic tables or text documents. For instance, it is now possible to link an item with the corresponding document at SharePoint portal; to link a customer with the signed agreement (in Microsoft Word format) or to create a link to a discussion at the corporate portal. In other words it is now possible to link the structured world of Microsoft Dynamics NAV with the unstructured outside, enabling the users to create their own URLs.
  • Integration with Windows Live Local Search allows using an address from Microsoft Dynamics NAV in a web-explorer to find it on a map and to create the corresponding route.
