NaviCon Restaurants solution on IBM Cognos 8 Planning platform includes several models that allow budget approval and confirmation per the types of cost centers (departments of a management company, payroll, restaurants) and provide import of actual data into the system. Besides, the solution provides the predefined forms for plan\actual analysis.

The budgeting business process in NaviCon Restaurant solution consists of the following steps:

• restaurant directors plan their income and product costs and approve them with the head of the budgeting department;
• the HR director plans salary funds and the staff schedule for restaurants and the management company and approves them with the directors of restaurants and departments;
• approved expenses on the departments’ salary funds are transferred to the expense block of the departments of a management company;
• approved expenses on the restaurants’ salary funds are transferred to the income and expense block of restaurants;
• the heads of the departments from a managing company plan the departments’ own expenses and those restaurant expenses for which they are responsible and approve them with the head of the budgeting department;
• the approved income and product costs are transferred to the income and expense block of the restaurants;
• the approved restaurants’ expenses that were scheduled by the departments of a management company are transferred to the expense block of the restaurants. The approved departmental own expenses are allocated per restaurants proportionally to the allocation base;
• the restaurant directors create income and expense budgets for their restaurants and approve them with the head of the budgeting department. Then the company total income and expense budget is created and confirmed by the company management;
• the income and expense budget data are transferred to the money cash flow budget;
• the data about the departmental expenses of a management company is transferred to the money cash and flow budget;
• the head of the treasury creates the final money cash flow budget, which forms the basis for the daily payment and income plan.
